Craps Online - Know about Craps Best Bets
Craps is a fun-filled game that offers the player a wide variety of bets
to make. For the beginner the game can seem like a complicated mess, but in
reality it’s a simple game that anyone can learn after a few minutes of
play. Like many casino table games, craps has some bets that are better than
others. For the beginner it’s best to start with pass line bets, and then
add other bets into their game after they become more accustomed to playing.
The “pass line” is the one bet to know. Most players bet on the pass line
because the house edge is a mere 1.41%. It’s a simple bet placed on the pass
line when the roll of the dice is a “come out” roll. You’ll know it’s a come
out roll because there is a black laminated marker on the table that says
"off." If the come out roll is a 2, 3, or 12, then you lose, but if the come
out roll is a 7 or 11, you win even money.
If any other total is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) it’s called a point, and
the dealer will turn over the marker from “off” to “on” and place it on the
space on the table that matches the number rolled. Then the dice will be
rolled until they either roll the point number again, or they roll a seven.
If they hit the point number again, you get paid even money. If they roll a
seven, you lose your wager.
The “don’t pass” bet is the same as the pass line bet except everything is
reversed. If the come out roll is a 2 or 3 then you win; a 7 or 11 and you
lose. A roll of 12 is a push, and if the 7 is rolled first you win. But if
the point comes first, you lose. If you include ties, the house edge on this
bet is 1.36%.
Another good bet on the craps table is the “laying odds” bet. After a point
has been rolled, you can bet up multiples of your pass line bet, usually 3
to 5 times. You just put the odds bet behind the pass line bet, just outside
of the pass line area on the side that’s closest to you.
Depending on what the point number is, a win will pay different odds. If the
point is a 6 or 8, the odds pay 6 to 5; if the point is a 5 or 9, the odds
pay 3 to 2; and if the point is a 4 or 10, the odds pay 2 to 1.
